Parish Clerk: Mike Kennedy

Born in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, Mike Kennedy attended his first meeting of the Abbots Langley Parish Council at the youthful age of 15. His interest in the public sector explains why he joined Three Rivers District Council in Rickmansworth as a trainee auditor following local government reorganisation in 1974. Promotion to the London Borough of Brent’s Education Department followed in 1980 before a move to his then hometown of Chesham in 1989 as Town Clerk.

Mike subsequently relocated his family to Huntingdon and then Ware before retiring as Town Clerk for Henley on Thames Town Council in 2016. However, his passion for working with the local community and “getting things done” inspired him to return to the sector where he served both Batchworth Community Council and the Ivers Parish Council. Married to Glenda they moved to Woodley in 2018 to be near their grandchildren. They have 6 children between them and 6 grandchildren.
